There are two types of breeding pastry. Maintenance pastry and breeding pastry, there is a great difference between the percentages of proteins from one to another. Breeding pastry has a higher percentage of proteins for a better chicks feeding.
These pastries can be also dry or wet. My experience as a breeder, and as other breeders say, tells me that the best is the wet one. You can also use dry pastries wetting them with grated carrot or with green millet. This one mentioned is specially appreciated by lovebirds and constitutes a very good complement for the chicks.
We have to give preference to pastries with packing date and expiry date, since pastries deteriorate with a continuous contact with the air. This is the reason why pastries must be given in small quantities and daily removed.
